In what was sometimes a fiery encounter last year’s premiers recorded their second win from as many matches.
With the expanded Division 1 Women’s competition into the third round the two Labrador sides are positioned 1st and 2nd on the table. The Gold side lead the way having recorded three successive wins with an impressive record of 17 goals for and are yet to concede one.
The Black side is hot on their tail with two wins and a draw from their three outings so far, having converted 19 goals with just 4 against. Both sides were impressive in their latest games with Gold recording a 5 - 0 win over Burleigh, and Black a 9 – 0 demolition of newly promoted Nerang.
Bragging rights were up for grabs with the first clash of the season between Division 2 Men’s club teams Labrador Black and Labrador Gold. There was always going to be plenty of running from the young legs of the Black team however they proved no match for experience with Eddie Berlin’s Gold side, going down fighting 5 goals to 1.
With an average age of the Gold side around double that of their younger clubmates, Black will be unperturbed and ready for revenge when they next meet.
With just seven minutes remaining last year’s runner’s up Redcliffe equalised, and delivered the final crushing blow with just 80 seconds remaining on the clock.
Redcliffe 3 Labrador 2
In contrast, the youth of Labrador’s BHL2 side proved a winning formula to record their second consecutive win in what many would consider an upset over the more favoured Redcliffe side.
Redcliffe 2 Labrador 3
Both talented juniors there is no doubt they will do themselves, their families and their club proud.

Thanks also to Bunnings Harbourtown where a sausage sizzle helped along with the trip expenses.
The disappointment of having originally been allocated just five home games for season 2010 evaporated with the announcement of an additional three home matches.
With the next clash on home turf scheduled for Saturday 10th April against Pine Rivers St Andrews, stay tuned for full details in next week’s newsletter.
Happy Easter
have a great Easter break where there are no games being played, but it all starts again next week so see you then.
